Introducing The Oxford Knee Archive

The Oxford Knee is the joint collection of John O'Connor, Lecturer and later Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, and the late John Goodfellow, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford. Together, they designed the first knee replacement to contain an analogue of the natural meniscus. Their device is used mainly for the treatment of medial unicompartmental osteoarthritis and is significantly less invasive than total knee replacement. The Bodleian Library has made a short video.

The archive - which is to be deposited at the Thackray Medical Museum in Leeds - consists of papers, drawings, photographs, slides and 3D objects.
