Church Monuments Society Archive

We are currently working on a project for the Church Monuments Society, which involves repackaging and listing the material, but also negotiating terms of deposit and project-managing the collection move.

The Church Monuments Society was founded in 1979 to encourage the appreciation, study and conservation of church monuments in the UK and overseas. The Society runs regular events, including excursions, conferences and study days. It also publishes the Journal of the Church Monuments Society, as well as a the bi-annual Newsletter.

From June 2014, the Church Monuments Society archive will be re-housed at the Borthwick Institute for Archives, University of York. As the Borthwick traditionally specialises in ecclesiastical archives (though more recently witnessing a growth in the range and type of holdings), the Church Monuments Society archive will fit neatly with the collection.

The Church Monuments archive consists of AGM and council minutes and agendas, correspondence, publicity leaflets, flyers, and archive copies of the Journal and Newsletter.

You can follow the Church Monuments Society on Twitter.
